We as animal lovers in Vietnam and across the world, would like to bring to your attention a case of 15 pups and 1 cat that got killed due to the incompetence of a group of people who claimed to be medically professional. As many of you know, Vietnam has been terribly suffering from Covid for many months, and the country was closing borders from state to state, so many people could not come home. Recently, as restrictions eased, a husband and wife decided to make their way home to Ca Mau from HCM city, a journey of almost 300 km with 15 of their beloved pets, 4 dogs, 11 puppies and 1 cat. Unfortunately, the couple tested positive for Covid and was ordered to quarantine at a government facility and was informed that the pets that came home with them would also need to be isolated. However, the pets were not isolated as promised, instead they were ordered to be killed, their heads were bashed in, they were drown and suffocated in plastics bags and burned while they were still alive. All this was done without informing the owners that their pets would be killed. This is an unacceptable behaviour, it is not condoned and has caused a massive distress in animal lovers as well as the people of Vietnam. Please we urge you, animal welfare groups look into this and bring justice to the animals that were killed barbarically for no reasons. Please help us to prevent any further incidents like this and help our animals to more rights. Please do not let them die in vain.
