For over two decades the Wildlife Waystation in California has been the home to chimpanzees rescued from biomedical research. Due to unfortunate financial obstacles, including having to evacuate all of their animals during the California fires, the Wildlife Waystation has to close. This means that these chimpanzees that have already been through so much are losing their home and now have an uncertain future. Chimpanzees can be unpredictable and a bit wild which makes them hard to place. They are also extremely intelligent, loving animals that deserve every bit of compassion we can give them.

Many of these chimps were used in research funded by the government however the government no longer takes any responsibility for their care. Chimp Haven is a government-funded sanctuary that is devoted to providing chimpanzees that have been retired from research a home. These chimps should be allowed to retire to Chimp Haven with other retired research chimps so they can live out the rest of their lives living the chimp life. These chimps have unwillingly given so much to human health and they do not deserve to be left without a home.
