I drove 24 hours to secure my pet mini pig Kali.  She was fully trained in 4 days and we created a bond instantly. I lived with a roommate at the time, but was transitioning into my own place. Upon learning that Kali needed to be previously written into my new lease, i was faced with the decision to sell her to someone i knew. My roommate volunteered and suggested that she house her because she was our “family” and she knew how much she meant to me. The agreement was that Kali would stay with her until we were able to write her into our lease. Kali lived with my former roommate for the better part of 2 months. On Juneteenth 2020, i went to get my pig and was sent a simple text, “Kali is no longer with me, she’s at Waggin tails shelter on Cicero” i was immediately blocked and could not reach my former roommate. I ran to the shelter with proof of purchase, vet records and a fistful of tears. Waggin tails shelter did little to nothing to help. They wouldn’t give me the fosters info and said all i could do was hope the foster would call back. A few hours later the shelter called and said the foster had already adopted her and that i should “Get Over Her As Shes In A Good Home”. The most insensitive remark i had ever heard. I am seeking help to sue and press charges against all responsible parties for this illegal adoption.
