Help ban animal testing on cosmetics in the United States
The Issue
If we ban animal testing in cosmetic companies in the United States it would be saving a lot of animals lives. Who are we to determine if something gets to live or die? Most people think that the only animals testing is being done on is rats or mice but the animal that is most tested on is rabbits. According to the humane society international website "These tests can cause considerable pain and distress including blindness, swollen eyes, sore bleeding skin, internal bleeding and organ damage, birth defects, convulsions, and death. Pain relief is not provided and at the end of a test, the animals are killed, normally by asphyxiation, neck-breaking or decapitation." Some alternatives to animal testing could be cell cultures: coax cells to grow into 3D structures, such as miniature human organs, which can provide a more realistic way to test new therapies. Use human tissues, computer models and volunteer studies. Let's help end animal testing!
