Goddards Law addition. Prosecution for not returning a lost pet.
The Issue
- On Saturday May 22, 2021 my daughters French Bulldog pushed his way under their back fence and got into apartment parking lot behind their house. The kids called to her fiance to let him know that the dog was there. He got in the car and drove around the block to get him and he was gone. After a day and a half of searching and putting his pictures all over Facebook they received messages showing the person that had the dog. They called the police and began to reach out by messenger to those involved. After a short time a woman contacted my daughter to let her know that she had the dog and that she had taken him from the apartment parking lot. She took the dog home, to another city and while she had him she let him out to go to the bathroom and he was hit by a car and killed. She had no intention in giving the dog back until she knew that people knew she had him and she only contacted them after he was killed. She never contacted the police or anyone to find out if someone was missing him. On May 23, 2021 at approximately 5pm we went to this womans home to pick up Chico's body. We need to add an addition to Goddards Law to cover this type of situation. She basically stole the dog and was negligent in his death.
