Due to the closure of meat plants, more than 10 million US farm animals (including chickens and pigs) are to be killed using inhumane methods such as suffocation, gassing (with carbon dioxide and sodium nitrite), shooting, electrocution, anesthetic overdose, and/or blunt force trauma. Pregnant female pigs and laying hens are also facing abortion and slaughter. These animals are not able to be currently killed for food, so the United States is taking matter into their own hands and using inhumane tactics to "depopulate" these animals. Does this sound humane to you? The National Pork Producers Council has estimated that approximately 10,069,000 pigs will be killed by September 2020. As animal lovers and passionate human beings, we MUST do something to be the voice for these animals in desperate need of help. These animals, at the very LEAST, deserve to survive. These animals deserve to be placed in sanctuaries, rescues, and local farms throughout the United States to continue living out their lives. It's unfair to let these animals suffer due to the pandemic, all living creatures deserve to be treated with respect. Animals have rights too!
