To Pedro Garcia, Divisao de Cultura e Patrimonio, Camera de Silves We the undersigned call on you to remove the Bullring that has just opened in Armacao de Pera, Algarve. At a time when millions of people all over the world are waking up to the horror of animal cruelty and when the Government of Portugal has finally taken a step forward and made it illegal to ill treat domestic animals - Silves Council takes a backwards step and opens a new Bullring, where innocent, defenceless animals are abused and tortured to death in the name of 'entertainment'. This portrays the Portuguese people as barbaric, brutal and backwards and is NO incentive to tourism. Most tourists come from countries where barbaric blood sports were banned decades ago and where Animal Rights are recognised and enshrined in law. They are appalled by this brutality. Anyone who is entertained by watching an animal suffer cruelly is not mentally healthy. Please take immediate steps to close this abomination before any damage is done - to animals and to your reputation.
