Mass Destruction of Native Wildlife Imminent in Sydney

The issue

The former IBM site at 55 Coonara Avenue, West Pennant Hills should not be being destroyed for units - let alone in critical spring breeding time when last year Australia lost over 1 billion animals in the devastating bushfires!!

The recent approval for removal of 1,253 trees on the site is a travesty but Mirvac's bad timing will cause the loss of not just one but two generations and more of our cherished local fauna.

It was bad enough that NSW State Government over-ruled the Hills Shire Local Council as well as the surrounding communities and locals and used the Fast Track COVID program to give developers what they wanted. Now this!

This area is unique. It's part of the NSW Save our Species scheme and contains one of the last few remaining patches of Critically Endangered Blue Gum High Forest. It provides refuge and breeding grounds for thousands of native wildlife including echidnas, lizards, snakes, possums, gliders and birds plus endangered microbats and Powerful Owls.

Please sign this petition to tell the Government and Mirvac we didn’t want any clearing of wildlife habitat on this site and we especially don't want it right now when native wildlife are breeding!

Please ask the Government to tell Mirvac to wait until summer when the babies and their parents have left their nests.
