Close all Penn State Campus to protect students from COVID-19

The Issue

There is some evidence that shows the novel coronavirus(COVID-19) has already started to spread all over the US, and the situation is not rosy.

Even though there is no case of COVID-19 reported in PA, there is no reason to believe that we are totally safe. The virus can be “invisible” for two weeks before symptoms emerge. It is likely that someone is infected without knowing, and still goes to classes, Walmart, and even big events, causing more infections. Unfortunately, even President Trump said Monday that he believed it was safe to continue holding campaign rallies across the country during the coronavirus outbreak. We should be alarmed since this virus has infected more than 91,000 people all over the world and claimed the lives of 3,000. Even worse, I did not see anyone wearing a mask today.

We, Penn State student, should also join this fight, to fight COVID-19 from further spreading. This is not to say that we are not responsible for our academics, but the contrary, meaning we cannot sitting there doing nothing and see our friends and families suffering from this. We are also responsible for our own health. Thus, we must take some action to avoid the worst situation.

We are asking Eric James Barron, the president of Pennsylvania State University to close all campus, and starts online classes until the situation gets better. The virus can not spread if we fight together. Bright future is still waiting for us to creat, and we cannot let this tiny virus beat us.
