York Country Children and Youth have non stopped harrassed my family and put us all through emotional trauma. They would not stop their witch hunt until they got the answer that they wanted. Here is my story.

The weekend of June 1st, 2019 I went away to DuBois to see my youngest brother graduate high school. My husband works twelve hour shifts on the weekends, so we arranged that my two children ages 11 and 6 stay over night at my in laws.
Somewhere around 3 am on June 2nd my daughter got out of bed to use the bathroom, she ended up tripping and landing on the bottom of a cast iron sewing machine. Because of this she ended up with severe bruises up and down the left side of her body: her leg, upper arm, jaw, cheek bone, and her ear lobe. I was not made aware of any of this, no phone calls were made nor did my in laws take her to med Express to get evaluated.
I set to come home with my sister and brother in law after graduation was finished on June 2nd. When I was an hour away I was getting messages from my daughter through Facebook asking when I was going to come pick her up, and that she had fallen in the middle of the night and had alot of bruises and she was hurting. I tried to get as much information out of her as I could but she could not remember everything; I assume she blacked out when she fell.
Upon getting home I jumped into my car to drive the short distance to my in law’s home to pick up my children, when I got there is when I first saw the extent of her injuries. My mother in law and I ran through the chain of events and examined her. We then left to go home and as soon as I brought the kids into the house I took photos and sent them to my husband asking him what the heck happened. At this moment I found he had not been informed either.
June 3rd is her birthday, I wanted to keep her home from school because I worried if she would wake up and be in any amount of pain and if so I wanted to get her to express care but when we came home she was complaining that her ankle hurt but assured me that she was fine. My daughter has zero pain tolerance so I took her at her word, my daughter was adamant that she wanted to go and hand out cupcakes. I emailed the teacher and explained what happened and asked that if my daughter complained about being in pain to send her to the nurse and to call me and I would come get her. Her teacher forwarded my email to all of the other teachers to let them know that she might be in pain and to take it easy especially since she had gym that day.
When my daughter went to the nurse to get an ice pack; the nurse immediately called the 1-800 abuse number without speaking to her teachers or myself to find out any information; which I do understand but I was still upset about it.
I came home from work with flowers, cake, balloons and presents in hand only to be met with a young lady from CYS at my table. We explained what happened and I provided the emails to the teachers, the messages sent to my husband, and the messages back and forth with my daughter while we were coming home; all time and date stamped. This was not good enough for them and they demanded we go have a saftey exam done at York Hospital. Insisting they were the only hospital in the area that was capable of doing this particular type of exam. I asked if it could be done the next day since it was her birthday was was told no, that it had to be done that day and we had to leave around a certain time. The caseworker even called the hospital to let them know we were coming and why. I had to sing Happy Birthday to my daughter in the hospital; we waited seven hours to be seen and for all of the reports and pictures to be taken. My daughter was devastated that her birthday was ruined and exhausted by the time we got home. Keep in mind, this exam took place on a school night and we did not get home until well past 1 AM. The last woman we encountered was a saftey forensic nurse who talked to my daughter privately and took pictures of her brusing. All reports from the dozens of forensic safety doctors and nurses came back that the injuries were consistent with a fall since it was all on one side of her body and my daughter was capable of explaining what happened without inconsistencies. The discharge papers I received also said that her injuries were from a fall. The last nurse even apologized to both of us for having us come in because she did not believe that it was any kind of child abuse and also felt bad that it was her birthday so she ran into her office and pulled out a beanie baby that oddly enough had the same birthdate as my daughter and gave it to her. It was very sweet.
June 12th to now:
This was not good enough for CYS, so the caseworker then got the DA and a Northern Regional Detective involved and had us go to the Child Advocacy place in York to be interviewed. During this everything was recorded, while a therapist trained in this talked with my daughter. During this our caseworker as well as the detective and an attorney sit and watched in another room. These reports also came back concluding it was a result from a fall and that nothing suspicious had happened.
Two weeks went by before my in-laws were finally questioned by the detective and our caseworker. Keep in mind that this incident took place at my in-laws house not mine. After speaking with them I received a call at work from the detective stating he does not believe anything criminal happened and that he believes it was from a fall as my daughter had stated so he closed the case on his end.
This was still not good enough for CYS, so they sent the reports to Hershey Hospital for a second review, this came back claiming child abuse and is the report they have decided to go with.
I was able to track down the person who reviewed the case at Hershey Hospital and was told by her that they received minimal information. I explained everything that we did, the saftey exam, the interviews, everything, and she was surprised. I asked that if she got all of the information if she could review it again and give a more educated opinion and she said yes. So she and I both reached out to CYS; they are refusing to let me see the reports sent to Hershey, and are stating that we are now all in the system even though no person has been named. According to them, until my daughter names the person who "harmed" her she will forever be in the system, this case will forever be pending, and our nightmare will never end.

My caseworker is now going back on everything she said and claims the safety exam that had to be done on June 3rd was optional and I could have refused, even though that day I was told it was mandatory and had to be done that day. She is also trying to say that my daughter has changed up her story several times which is untrue I have been with her all but the two times we were separated and her story has stayed consistent – so I asked her what she meant but her statement she said that at one time my daughter stated that she woke up in the middle of the night on the floor bawling and having my in laws rush in her next story “change” was that she woke up in the middle of the night and tripped over something and landed on the floor and my in laws came rushing in… So it is basically the same story she is just rewording what my daughter is telling everyone.
Now I am getting letters in the mail stating that my family has been signed up for ongoing services which I did not at the time understand. I called to find out and was informed that we have been put into receive services for a therapist to come to my house once a week and review any new updates and signs to look for in child abuse and now not to abuse our children. Nothing happened at my house, my kids were in the care of my in laws when these injuries occurred. I have also received a letter stating that I am entitled to all reports taken from their office and others which would include Hersheys reports. Despite multiple requests for copies of this information they are still refusing to provide any of it.
I am emotionally and physically drained from this experience. I have never once hit my children and I don’t even believe in getting babies ears pierced because I believe that is abuse. I am the type that if I see a child or someone being abused where ever I go I speak up and call the authorities.
I have cooperated with everything they have wanted us to do and now it has turned into a witch hunt, it feels as though that they were not going to stop until they got the answer they wanted and are choosing to ignore the dozens of others (forensic safety doctors & nurses, the DA, Detective Lebo with the Northern Regional Police Department, a trained safety child therapist and many others in York County) who have disagreed with them.

York County CYS is crooked and go after the people who have either done nothing wrong or have committed minor offenses and have resulted in children being taken from homes only to be abused or killed in foster care. They need to be reviewed and have people replaced that are only looking to fill a quota they have.
