The Bloomsburg Fair sanctioned a transphobic dunk tank booth on the fairgrounds. This booth was set up to be a “family friendly fundraiser” and featured a man dressed in women’s clothing and a wig sitting in a dunk tank in an attempt to impersonate Dr. Rachel Levine, an American pediatrician currently serving as the Pennsylvania Secretary of Health. She also serves as Professor of Pediatrics and Psychiatry at the Penn State College of Medicine. Dr. Levine has been experiencing extreme transphobia in her position as a public official.

The official Bloomsburg Fair page posted a picture of the booth with the caption, “Dr. Lavine? Thank you. You were a hit and raised a lot of money for the local fire companies. Wonder why so many were trying to dunk you �. Thanks everyone that came out to support our local fire companies.”

This petition is a call to remove everyone involved with approving and running this booth, including whoever was responsible for the post on the Bloomsburg Fair page. Those who are chosen to replace them should be required to undergo sensitivity training to make sure that the fair is a safe place for everyone to enjoy with their families.  Please stand with me in making sure that transphobia has no place at the Bloomsburg Fair!
