Many Amish people live in Lancaster, Pennsylvania where I am from. They are very nice people who do some not very nice things. They do not treat their animals correctly in my opinion. I went to buy a puppy at an Amish farm one time and the litter was living knee deep in cow manure. This was repulsive! Also their horses are miss treated, often left out in the sun in public places tied to their attached buggies. I once saw a horse collapse on the road while going down a hill. The driver of the buggy proceeded to get out and try to push the horse back up to continue on unsuccessfully. The mules are treated harshly in the fields on hot summer days putting me in mind of the slaves of the south. To me Amish people are not held to the same standard of care for animals as everyone else and as a 14 year old High School student I want to change that.
