Stop PA Firearm Registration Act House Bill 768

Stop PA Firearm Registration Act House Bill 768

The Issue

If this bill is signed into law gun owners would be required to obtain a registration certificate from the State police at a cost of $10 per firearm.  That certificate would need renewed every year.  Gun owners would be fingerprinted and required to provide 2 photos taken within 30 days prior to the date of filing among a number of other requirements.  If denied the firearm owner would be required to surrender the denied firearm.  There are no upsides to this bill.  What would it prevent?  “I can’t rob this bank today because I haven’t registered my hand gun yet.  Or, I can’t shoot my wife and her lover because I have registered my handgun and I might get caught?”  The bill also does not suggest or make any requirements for the proceeds received.  What are they going to do with the money?  House Bill 768
