To remove the stop light at S. Providence Road & Bullens Lane

We are asking you today to sign our petition to have the temporary stop light at South Providence Rd (Rt. 320) and Bullens Lane taken down after PennDOT completes bridge work on MacDade Blvd in November.
It is our understanding that PennDOT has erected the light as temporary measure to help ease congestion caused by the reconstruction of the bridge spanning Ridley Creek. It is our contention that this light was erected without proper study of the traffic flow on these roads or the problems that the light will cause residents in the area.
As an example of the shoddy planning by PennDOT, take note that traffic traveling north on 320 can legally make a right turn on red onto Bullens Lane. Unfortunately this turn takes traffic directly across the path of traffic that has a green light exiting from a private road serving 1000-1004 Providence Road. The fact that PennDOT has allowed traffic flow to turn directly into cars with the right of way shows that they have simply done the minimum possible in planning for and constructing the light.
We are petitioning PennDOT to remove the light once construction is complete (currently scheduled for November 2012) and to return the intersection to its previous state; while they state that this is the case, they also do say that they are studying making the light permanent. Help us show Nether Providence township and PennDOT that the light is creating unsafe conditions for residents.
