S.C.I Frackville inmates are locking themselves down for a peaceful demonstration. We need your help releasing our demands to improve the standard of living here to the media in this region. This strike begins on Monday, August 25, 2014. There will be over 900 inmates peacefully demonstrating in a prison that houses 1,500 inmates. Aside from Coal Township, this is one of the most corrupt prisons in the state of Pennsylvania. 

The Demands-

1.We are calling for the immediate removal of Dr. Adrian Harewood, an incompetent doctor who distinctly displays his disgust for the inmates who reside here. Crucial medications were cut under his control and made non-formulary in an attempt to save the state money. There are inmates whom have rods in their legs and are living with extreme levels of pain and discomfort and this doctor has purposely denied this man medications that would ease the pain. We are also calling for the removal of all of the other medical supervisors who blatantly condoned this unprofessional and inhumane conduct.

2.To provide better quality nutrition for prisoners. We are constantly served rotten meats, condiments that have long since expired, no napkins, dirty cups to drink from, and dirty silverware to eat with. Many inmates have become gravely ill from these unhygienic practices and this needs to stop.

3.We want a stop to the unnecessary harassment of inmates by the guards. This kind of practice happens way too often and when an inmate attempts to defend himself from unwarranted abuse from a guard, he is subjected to retaliatory cell search and interrogation in an attempt to display control. We are already here to serve our punishment, this inappropriate behavior demonstrated by the guards only serves to make the inmates feel cornered and other inmates may seek to aid him which results in many more issues that no one wants happening.

4.We want half time in and out for ALL yards including a 5 minute block move for bodily functions. This is something EVERY other prison has in motion except this one. We should not be forced to choose between relieving our bodily functions or our recreation and exercise.

5.To open up the areas in the yard area that have been marked off. This is a very small prison and we are all crammed in the limited yard space as it is. The obvious solution would be to open these 4 large areas and allow inmates the use of them.

6. Introduce board games in the visiting rooms so that friends and family can play while visiting with an inmate. This is something that is also allowed at EVERY other prison except this one.
