Kassidy Atherton started this petition to Governor of Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf and

Pennsylvanians have lost their right to provide themselves with transportation and it is unacceptable.

  • We cannot transfer any titles to buy/sell vehicles.
  • We cannot purchase replacement titles if a title is lost/stolen.
  • Dealerships are banned from making any sales.
  • Permit tests- unavailable.
  • Driver's tests- unavailable.

Due to Covid-19, our Governor has closed all Penndot locations, deeming them non-life sustaining. Without these locations operating, many vehicle services are now unavailable. They have closed the Harrisburg location that processes titles. Without this service, it is impossible for anyone to buy/sell vehicles. This negatively impacts essential workers needing to purchase transportation, and the car dealers that make their living from selling vehicles.

EXAMPLE: A Pennsylvania healthcare worker totals their vehicle in an accident, and must purchase a new vehicle in order to continue with their employment (saving lives) He or she will not able to do so, because all of Pennsylvania's DMV locations are closed "until further notice"

Yet, Fast food restaurants are OPEN. Grocery stores are OPEN. Gas stations are OPEN. All Pennsylvanians deserve an explanation as to why these services are more important than their right to obtain transportation services.

Our Governor must provide the public with DMV services. They are necessary to sustaining life when it comes to transportation for essential workers, and to obtain necessities such as food or other supplies. Announcing closures that are in effect "until further notice" is not acceptable.

Essential workers (with the majority being low wage employees)are all expected to risk their health to continue working, but cannot purchase a vehicle to fulfill these duties if it were necessary.

Note: An alternative to reopening all physical locations is acceptable, ONLY if all services can still be properly fulfilled.
