IFC sent out an email this week that broke the hearts of many Penn State students. They are trying to take a very special thing about this school away from us. “Daylongs”. The issue is that when these day drinks happen people flood the street, are more loud than usual and cause more destruction then needed. We the students recognize this and respecting the community is the first step to working towards a unified goal. Drinking on Saturdays has no intention of being anything negative and we might have lost that in principle. Drinking on Saturday is a celebration. It’s a reward for us as students to relax on the weekend after a long week of hours in library, class and some who work jobs. To permanently ban students from being outside on a gorgeous day over the weekend is something to re-evaluate. As we begin to mature throughout college, we the students want to work with the IFC to bring back something special about this school. Last Saturday was the breaking point. It’s time we have the conversation and move forward on a unified goal.
