Investigate and look into the actions of Penn's Chi Omega Sorority and Beta Theta Pi Fraternity's "Gangsta" themed Mixer on February 15, 2014.

The Issue

Because members of the student body believes that the actions that transpired within the two chapters were racially & culturally insensitive, socio-economically offensive, and does not adhere to the proper representation of students from diverse backgrounds on this campus. The event does not reflect the intentions of what greek life on this campus should be, nor student life and does not fosters a welcoming and accepting environment. We ask that you recognize the grievances and concern from members of the Penn community, and the larger West Philadelphia community.

We are asking administration to look into the event and authorize the upmost appropriate sanctions so that further events and behavior on this campus will not be tolerated. These issues impact the function and coordination of student activity across campus and should be taken seriously.

Students from all walks of life deserve to be treated with the upmost protection and security both physically, socially, and culturally. Please do not take the concerns of those who have practiced their first ammendment right to protest and assemble for granted.
