Many children in Gig Harbor don't know how to swim confidently, and yet our maritime city is surrounded by water.  The functionality of the available pools in Gig Harbor no longer meets the needs of our growing community. Gig Harbor desperately needs a public aquatic facility to continue to provide for the water safety and water recreation needs of our expanding community. 

By signing this petition, I am stating my support for the Swim Safe Gig Harbor campaign that is advocating for the need for a public aquatic center to be built in Gig Harbor. The needs of our growing community demand a place where our children, families, adults, and seniors can have an easily accessible and affordable pool facility. As a maritime city, the water safety of all is a high priority for our community. We need a centralized property for Gig Harbor residents to access a community aquatic center. I support the development of the Peninsula Gardens property to include a plan for a community aquatic center. I support this effort to meet the water safety goals of our community and for a place to provide safe, recreational water activities for all.
