Please allow Lee & Roxanne Walker to remain in their home - 125, Slade Lane, Haverfordwest

I have lived at the above Pembrokeshire County Council rented, two bedroom upstairs flat my whole life, and my niece Roxanne for many years.

The tenancy succeeded from Dad to Mum following his death on 18.07.2006. Mum passed away on 27.02.2013, and as a result the tenancy – as it is only able to succeed once - is unable to automatically pass to myself. We were immediately advised that there have been many others in our position, and that none of these others had been allowed to remain in their home.

As a result; we are being made to leave my lifelong home for another two bedroom property.

However we discovered via Freedom of Information that the outcome of every concluded case of those in an identical position to ours has resulted in the persons involved being allowed to remain in their homes (including one gentleman was excluded from Pembrokeshire County Council’s reply to my Freedom of Information request!)

The average cost to turn around a void property for the year to date is £3,480.00. To allow us to remain in our home would incur no cost; officer time only. We have also been threatened with legal action if we do not move voluntarily, at additional cost.

Mum lived in Slade Lane her whole life - almost 80 years - and her parents before that. My Grandparents on Dad's side also lived in Slade Lane. The loss of my lifelong home would be equal to an additional bereavement, and I really do not feel I would cope if we were made to do this.

The photos were taken on Christmas Day 1978 - the year I was born - at 125, Slade Lane. The memories and nostalgia of being in my lifelong home have got me through the last year and a half. My dog is buried in the garden - which Dad marked with a stone - and the flowers he planted still bloom every year.

Please sign and share our petition, your support would mean the world to us; Thank-you.
