The old dance teacher Ms. Gonzalez is back and our new teacher Coach Stacy aka Ms. Theodore was replaced.

This has created and unstable learning environment for many students because our beloved teacher was gone without notice. Ms. G, said we aren’t owed an explanation when there are freshmen who didn’t know about her, the only teacher we’ve met was Coach Stacy and she will always be our teacher.

Ms. G said and I quote “I am the original teacher, I was on tour and now I’m back”. She talks about how much she loves touring and how important it is to her, so why not do that? 

Our school can’t have a loving community/family nor a stable learning environment when the students have been stripped away from any sort of human decency, a heads up would’ve been appropriate. 

Ms. G also threatened to call security on a young black student for asking questions. The question is, why did she feel like security was the proper solution. What is so threatening about a child asking questions? The student cried over the loss of Coach Stacy as did others and Ms. G had no remorse, she had nothing but attitude, she then said that’s she’s a chill teacher but she won’t let that student talk to her like that. 

This was in front of the class, the student apologized and tried to clear the misunderstanding by saying she didn’t mean to come off as disrespectful but Ms. G had nothing to say, she gaslighted the student, then called her extra and called her a stereotypical black girl name after asking for her name multiple times. This made a couple students in the classroom very uncomfortable.

Ms. Theodore has been the dance teacher since school started. Since then she’s created bonds with all her students. There isn’t anyone who doesn’t adore coach stacy. She taught us a lot, she choreographed many dances that we love so much, I personally do them at home, that’s how good they are. 

She makes dance entertaining yet educational, we practice different types of dances from jazz to lyrical. She makes her students WANT to dance, I look forward to her class everyday, even when I don’t see her, I always visit, as do others. 

We should let Ms. Gonzalez do what she does best and bring our teacher (Coach Stacy) back.
