Pedestrian Crossing for Brede Primary School

Pedestrian Crossing for Brede Primary School
The Issue
PBrede Primary School, nestled in the heart of Broad Oak, Rye, is more than just an educational institution; it's a cornerstone of our community. Yet, each day our children face a grave danger as they navigate the busy road adjacent to the school. It's a bustling conduit not only for cars but also large trucks and buses, creating a perilous situation for our young pedestrians.
For years, the school has struggled to recruit a crossing guard, leaving our children without any safe crossing point. This issue is further compounded by the absence of a pedestrian crossing or bollards. Our children, the heart of our community, deserve the right to attend school and use the local recreational grounds without the constant threat posed by this heavily trafficked road.
Broad Oak is growing. With the recent development of 27 new homes, the village is expanding, and so too is the necessity for safe infrastructure. We need a pedestrian crossing that allows children and residents alike to cross safely, without fear.
Ensuring the safety of our children as they walk, play, and learn is a fundamental responsibility we must uphold. With the council's support, we can implement a solution that not only prevents potential tragedies but enriches our community's quality of life.
Join us in urging the local council to prioritize the installation of a pedestrian crossing near Brede Primary School. Your support can help us turn this urgent need into reality. Sign this petition and make a difference in the safety of our community.
