Stop the Shakopee landfill expansion.

The Shakopee Landfill has asked to expand garbage dumping capacity to more than 3,650,000 tons over a ten-year period. This is a bad idea for several reasons:

1. Shakopee doesn't need to take more garbage from other communities.
2. The increase in heavy truck traffic would be unbearable and too taxing on already crowded roads.
3. Expanding a landfill near the Minnesota River combined with the possibility of flooding is an unnecessary risk to human health and fresh water.
4. It could cause harm to wildlife in the nearby Minnesota Valley National Wildlife Refuge.
5. There are other disposal options that are safer, and more environmentally friendly.
