Thank you to each and every one of our supporters who stood by us and signed our petition.  With your signatures we gained the strength to fight for the protection of our majestic seacoast from a proposed massive air cargo hub.

So, what's next?
On May 12th, 2022, John Kane (Kane) and John Stebbins (Procon), joint developers on their proposed Massive Cargo Hub, issued a letter to Paul Brean, Executive Director of the Pease Development Authority (PDA), announcing they will no longer pursue an air cargo hub at Pease. The air cargo hub had been their primary focus at Pease. No longer! They will now pursue aviation logistics, research and development facilities for their clients. In their letter to the PDA, Procon/Kane cited business, economic, market and client based reasons for their decision to cancel the air cargo hub project. They also commented that the Seacoast residents’ concerns were a factor in their decision-making process. We were very pleased that our collective voices made an impact.

However, despite the good news, we are aware of another developer who still considers a cargo hub viable at Pease! This developer may not be as experienced and/or credible as Procon/Kane, and likely lacking the financial depth, oversight and stability required for a complicated project like an air cargo facility. This is the biggest threat we face. We must remain vigilant and, together, continue to protect our precious Seacoast environment for generations to come.

NEW ACTION: The Center for Responsible NH Seacoast Development has taken on a new challenge! It is critical that we now focus on protecting the wetlands and our drinking water sources at Pease from an active fuel farm proposed by a Texas-based company, Million Air. This company has received DES permit approval to build a road over sensitive wetlands! Building such a road at this site triggers a grave risk of causing contamination to our drinking water.

The key point to consider: There are risk-free sites on Pease available to Million Air for their Fuel Farm. BUT, the company has instead chosen the most economically friendly site in order to enhance their financial gains with no consideration to the risks this location poses to our water and the environment.

We must not allow the Million-Air project to proceed as proposed. We must challenge the DES permit with an appeal to the Wetlands Council. The DES ignored the public’s concerns and issued an approval to Million Air, nonetheless. We must convince the PDA to reject the site chosen by Million Air in order to protect our wells and our drinking water from further contamination. We will shortly launch a new petition asking the Seacoast communities to support cancelling the Million Air project as proposed. The new petition’s link will be posted on NextDoor. Please consider signing the new petition. We hope to earn your incredible support - again!  THANK YOU!
