Hello,

I work full time as a nursery practitioner. Some of my shifts start before 9.30am. I have worked very hard to get a full time job and not let my condition affect my day to day routine as later in life maybe it will. I’m also fully independent except for my medication I have been on that has helped me since my teens.

After all my efforts it is frustrating that I can’t use my freedom pass when I need to to get to my place of work especially in such a demanding role. I know a lot of other people who would benefit and I don’t understand why there is a time restriction on my right to essentially get around independently as I don’t drive.

The freedom pass is a replacement for not driving which I fully accept and think is also very environmental and don’t plan on learning to drive as I have always been very grateful for the great public transport London offers. Sleep and stress are major triggers and it is difficult to get to work on time when I have to consider certain mornings I have to pay. I cannot afford it and I shouldn’t have to.

I know many people who have a worse time who depend on their freedom pass to get around especially at peak hours. I feel my efforts of having a job and working to build a routine aren’t fully considered or appreciated if I can only travel at certain times. I arrive early and have to wait for 9.30 to come around and sometimes when I start earlier that is not an option. 

This new rule is disappointing and encourages me to work less hours. Especially as this is a new law and feels like freedom users for whatever reason (people with chronic illnesses, the elderly, anyone who is unable to drive) are being targeted. This may encourage people to drive, have more cars on the road which is harmful to environment and unnecessary. Not changing this rule may make people work less land stay home leading a more isolated life which will be detrimental especially to the elderly.

It is very disappointing when there is a clear solution. I have worked very hard to create my routine and your support in returning my right to use the freedom pass when i need to is the right thing to do. 

Please return my inspiration and smile when I wake up for early shifts. Now is the time to act because driving is expensive and I like my routine. Please let me choose my right to travel and work for free.
