Peachtree City, GA - No apartments, condos, or townhouses in Village Centers

Peachtree City, GA - No apartments, condos, or townhouses in Village Centers
The Issue
WE THE UNDERSIGNED RESIDENTS OF PEACHTREE CITY, GA, REJECT THE COMPREHENSIVE PLAN DRAFT REVISION WHICH INCLUDES ANY FORM OF "SUBURBAN MIXED USE" or "URBAN MIXED USE" DEVELOPMENT OR REDEVELOPMENT.
Peachtree City "resoundingly" rejected the entire Living Centers Initiative back in 2020. Just as we NOW, ONCE AGAIN, reject putting it into the revision of the Comprehensive Plan.
WE OPPOSE Rezoning General Industrial for any other use, AND rezoning Commercial property to any type of Residential or Mixed Use, to include apartments, condos, townhouses, etc. That type of rezoning is a dream come true for developers and builders and it's a nightmare for current residents of Peachtree City who have to schedule trips to certain stores when traffic is tolerable (and that window is getting smaller every day). THAT IS WHY WE OPPOSE IT.
Peachtree City Council drafted an update to the Comprehensive Plan that is not yet finalized. We want it changed for the following reasons:
1 - The final "draft" which is not yet approved by the City Council, clearly states that any redevelopment in Kedron, Braelinn and Aberdeen Village Centers could include "Suburban Mixed Use" housing, which would permit building apartments, condos or townhouses inside those Village Centers. And the draft does not stop it from being put into other areas.
2 - The Peachtree City Planning Director conducted an online survey that many feel is biased and only permitted online responses. That eliminated anyone without a computer, or who is not computer savvy enough to complete an online survey.
3 - Peachtree officials did not send a written notice to each resident inviting them to participate in the survey online AND offering them a PAPER SURVEY to complete instead. That may have discriminated against senior citizens, anyone who is "computer challenged", and anyone who doesn't regularly read the cities webpage.
4 - The raw data and answers to the survey do not align with the claims laid out by the City Planner. As Peachtree City residents and taxpayers they should have made a better effort to conduct a legitimate unbiased survey.
5 - They did not get a professional organization to write the survey questions causing huge potential "bias" in the questions or answer choices.
As a result, the proposed Comprehensive Plan says the Kedron, Braelinn and Aberdeen, Village Centers have been identified for potential "Suburban Mixed Use" housing to be added as they redevelop any of the buildings in those Village Centers.
Every Peachtree City resident could suffer for years if the draft of this Comprehensive Plan is approved and enacted.
WE REJECT THE USE OF MIXED USE, ANY REZONING IN VILLAGE CENTERS, AND REZONING GENERAL INDUSTRIAL OR COMMERCIAL PROPERTY FOR ANY HOUSING USE ! !
