On Saturday, the Australian government announced the roll out of $54 million in funding for subsidy of CGM's for Australians under the age of 21. This will save Australian families with a child with T1D almost $5000 per year and makes this life-saving technology obtainable for FREE from the local chemist. AMAZING!
Congratulations, supporters, on having YOUR voice heard and making a difference in our lives, and many others. THANK YOU!
Many have worked hard for several years to bring this to fruition, most of all Donna Meads-Barlow, founder of the DANII Foundation, who attended Parliament numerous times with facts that could not be ignored (she even took this petition with her!), hired an amazing lobbyist (Justine Caines) and did whatever it took to get the job done and ensure that all Australian T1D children could sleep safe in their beds each night due to CGM technology.
Donna is now attending 17 cities across Australia in a National Roadshow to provide information on eligibility and how to access the funding to type one diabetics, their families and carers, healthcare professionals, pharmacist staff and teachers- to ensure that this funding reaches those in the community who need it most.
Please follow the link and register to attend this event in the city closest to you.
The Sunshine Coast event is on Monday the 15th May 2016 at Maroochydore RSL from 5:30pm-7:30pm. Donna will be speaking, as well as healthcare professionals (and me!), and reps from Dexcom and Medtronic will be available.
This is a free event but seats are limited, so please register your attendance as soon as possible here:
