Subject: Urgent: Uphold Contractual Integrity and Pay Commitments at Northside CHS

Email Body:

Dear Members of the Board of Trustees,

I’m writing as a concerned supporter of Ms. Nasrin Akther, a dedicated educator at Northside Charter High School, whose salary is being unjustly withheld due to a retroactive change to her employment classification.

Ms. Akther was hired under a full-time, exempt 12-month contract for the remainder of the 2024–2025 school year, with salary payments clearly extending through August 15, 2025. She was paid accordingly—until recently.

Now, the school has informed her that, because she will not be returning next year, her status has been changed retroactively to a 10-month position, and her summer salary has been reduced by $5,075, despite no such clause existing in her original agreement.

This is not only a breach of contract but also unethical and deeply concerning. Actions like these hurt teacher morale and erode community trust.

  1. I respectfully ask the Board to:
  2. Investigate this unilateral contract violation
  3. Ensure Ms. Akther is paid her full agreed-upon salary through August 15
Hold school leadership accountable for honoring contracts in good faith

A public petition calling for justice in this matter is now gaining support:

Please act swiftly to correct this wrong and restore confidence in Northside’s commitment to fairness and professionalism.

Sincerely,
