PAWsitive Pathways: Let's us create a home for the strays.
The Issue
Help us protect stray animals. The Philippines has around 12 million stray animals right now. And every day passes by. They suffer abuse, look for food in the garbage in hope of finding leftovers (tira-tira), and battle malnutrition and sickness in silence.
In the Philippines, it's typical to see mange-ridden dogs limping along the street and scrawny cats laying on garbage piles. Even at school, it is not uncommon to see stray cats limping, full of bruises, and scrawny. But even seeing a situation like this, instead of helping them, we choose to ignore them because of the possibility of stray animals having a disease like rabies.
But can we really blame the stray animals for having these diseases? No, it is not their fault they got these diseases; they're also struggling not only with these diseases but with their everyday lives.
So instead of turning a blind eye, why don't we help them before it's too late and before they suffer more abuse? This does not only benefit them; it also benefits us. Giving a home to stray animals can lessen the spread of viral diseases like rabies.
Therefore before its to late. Let's provide a PAWsitive Pathways to these stray animals.
