As residents of Parañaque, Metro Manila, we are heartbroken to see animals roaming our streets, struggling to find food, water and shelter. Every day they face harsh conditions with no guarantee of survival. This is not just an issue about animal welfare; it also concerns public health and safety.

There are approximately 11.6 million stray dogs and cats in the Philippines (Philippine Animal Welfare Society). In Metro Manila alone, there are around 1.8 million strays (Animal Kingdom Foundation). These animals pose risks for disease transmission such as rabies which can be fatal for both humans and animals.

We believe that every animal deserves a loving home where they can thrive and be part of a family. We urge our local government to implement programs that promote the adoption of these stray dogs and cats in Parañaque City. Such initiatives could include setting up local shelters where these animals can be cared for until they find their forever homes.
