I’ve lived in Richmond for 11 years. For the last nine l’ve driven down Goshen St in the Carver neighborhood of Richmond every day. For the last four I’ve driven down it multiple times a day. The road has never been paved. It’s a relic from the bygone era of brick roads. And word is they don’t want to use asphalt on those roads because there are so few of them left. However- for the last 2 years Carver’s streets have been ripped apart time and again to fix ancient water pipes (this is ongoing). And the city just pays a 3rd party contractor to half-ass fix and then repave it (WITH ASPHALT). So the street is in total shambles. There’s tons of popped tires, some bricks & some lines of asphalt and finally- another 3rd party that constantly tickets the drivers parked along the street from Broad, to Leigh. That money could be used to fully pave it. Make it so that we can walk without turning our ankles. Drive without ruining our front end alignment. There are literally hundreds of cars that drive that street a day. Do something. This is one street off of the main drag in a growing neighborhood. They’ve taken parking spots away and routinely put a band-aid on what has become known as the worst street in Richmond. Please sign this petition and tell them to do better. Do anything. Help us keep Carver clean. At least bring us into the present and out of the 19th century.
