Timpanogos Elementary was built in 2008 for 600 students and currently has about ~620. Nine of our 13 elementary schools are under enrolled because of declining enrollment; three are severely under enrolled and well below the size the district says is efficient to operate. The Provo School District holds one of the highest debt per student ratios in the state at $24,000 per student. With over $285 million in total debt! Less expensive solutions like boundary adjustments and number of students allowed in a popular school are possible by board leadership. We urge the Provo School Board to pause the $38 million project and explore responsible, lower cost alternatives first.
