Pause Overdevelopment in Kyle, Texas: Protect Our Roads, Schools, and Community

Pause Overdevelopment in Kyle, Texas: Protect Our Roads, Schools, and Community
The Issue
We, the undersigned residents and concerned citizens of Kyle, Texas, respectfully urge the Kyle City Council to take immediate and decisive action to pause or slow residential overdevelopment--especially high-density housing--until our roads, schools, and essential services can keep up with the explosive growth.
When many of us moved to Kyle, it was a quiet, family-centered town with around 6,000 people. Today, it has over 80,000 residents--and new subdivisions and apartment complexes are going up faster than ever. Meanwhile:
- Traffic is out of control, with roads not designed for this level of congestion.
- Hays CISD schools are overcrowded, understaffed, and slipping in performance.
- Emergency response times are slower, and daily commutes are longer and more dangerous.
- New residents continue to pour in, but our infrastructure and community resources have not kept pace.
This is not anti-growth—this is about smart, balanced, and sustainable growth.
We ask the City Council to:
1. Pause or slow new residential development until infrastructure can catch up.
2. Enact a temporary moratorium on high-density projects.
3. Coordinate city planning with Hays CISD to ensure schools are not overwhelmed.
4. Create a transparent transportation improvement plan, with community input.
5. Listen to long-time residents whose quality of life is being diminished.
We love Kyle. We want it to grow responsibly—not at the expense of our families, our safety, or our schools.
Please sign and share this petition with others who care about protecting Kyle’s future.
