PAUSE on ROYAL VALLEY DEVELOPMENT!

PAUSE on ROYAL VALLEY DEVELOPMENT!
The Issue
CALL TO ACTION - TELL THE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS WHAT YOU THINK ABOUT OVERDEVELOPMENT IN KITSAP COUNTY ON JULY 28TH, 10:00AM AT COUNTY ADMIN BLDG IN PORT ORCHARD.
We, the undersigned residents of Kitsap County REQUEST KITSAP COUNTY COMMISSIONERS make an EMERGENCY DECLARATION to PAUSE APPROVALS OF PERMITTING of the ROYAL VALLEY DEVELOPMENT until such time that Kitsap County and Washington State Dept. of Transportation (WSDOT) provide resolutions to address the SERIOUS safety concerns and lack of infrastructure in accommodating recent population growth.
Runaway development currently approved by Kitsap County Department of Community Development (KCDCD) is overwhelming the infrastructure of our roads, medical/hospital services, emergency services, and (especially) law enforcement, and directly impacts safety and quality of life for citizens in Central Kitsap. This rapid and reckless expansion has resulted in environmental degradation, and safety hazards due to increased traffic congestion for which WSDOT is turning a blind eye.
If approved, the additional developments at Royal Valley will add up to 800 new homes/units leading to increased traffic volumes, congestion and the worsening of already dangerous road conditions on SR303. Approximately 20 new developments totaling 2500 new units along SR303/Wheaton Way (East Bremerton) north to Central Valley Road, are being built with NO plan in place by KITSAP DCD and WSDOT to address the capacity or safety of existing infrastructure.
WSDOT is refusing to install any new traffic lights, or safety barriers on SR303. There is a plan to REOPEN Gluds Pond Road bringing traffic onto Brownsville Highway (impacting Steele Creek) entering at two blind curves on that narrow roadway. Coupled with WSDOT plans to remove (9) fish barriers at Central Valley /Bucklin Hill interchange, possible removal of the overpass, (at Central Valley/Waaga Way), lengthy closures and delays (Bucklin Hill bridge took 2 years to complete), will only cause additional issues for the thousands of people that utilize these roadways. Old Military Road already has significant traffic fatalities. Traffic should not be allowed to turn left onto SR303.
Sadly a once rural/agriculture area in Central Valley has been forever changed due to rezoning to URBAN CLUSTER because Kitsap County DCD is increasingly influenced by large (out-of-town) development corporations that have little regard for the character and needs of our communities.
We, the residents of Kitsap County who have signed this petition, are requesting IMMEDIATE ACTION to prevent additional damage to the health safety and welfare of the citizens of CK and those who utilize SR303 and Central Valley Road.
