The Buffalo Outer Harbor holds deep significance for our community. Once an industrial wasteland scarred by pollution, this area has been transformed into a cherished city park through decades of hard work and commitment to environmental restoration. Today, the Outer Harbor is a vibrant space that showcases native environmental features and offers residents a sanctuary for recreation right on the edge of our great city. With its sprawling bike paths, art installations, children's bike park, kayaking opportunities, and updated facilities, the Outer Harbor stands as a testament to resilience and community dedication.

The prospect of cruise lines docking in this area raises environmental concerns. Without stringent environmental commitment, their presence would undermine the years of preservation and improvement to this area. 

How amazing would it be to say Buffalo has a cruise line on Lake Erie that utilizes alternative, clean energy sources?! That is something of which we could be proud. We should ensure that any new entity operating within (and profiting from) the Outer Harbor commits to the longevity and health of our city through agreements forged in sustainability, clean energy, and the protection of wildlife.

We propose that the City of Buffalo and Kathy Hochul merely put a pause on the agreement to host a new cruise line here until they can prove their operations are environmentally friendly.
