Stop UK charity distributing extremist material through mosques
The Issue
Since I appeared on Question Time on Thursday 25th May quoting from an anti western leaflet I received from Didsbury Mosque, not one politician or member of the Didsbury Mosque has bothered to ask the fundamental radical question of who distributes the leaflets, and why they have charitable status.
For their information, the leaflet was produced by The Islamic Dawah Centre International (http://idci.co.uk/) the self proclaimed leading Dawah (Islamic education) organisation in the UK (charity number 1092139).
The leaflet itself can be seen here:
I am now calling for the IDCI's other available literature to be investigated and for their charitable status to be removed as they are clearly falling short of the requirements to retain charitable status in the UK:
1. Making available extremist material of the nature seen is not for the public benefit
2. Any benefit that results from the purpose of this charity, is outweighed by the detriment & harm caused by taking an extreme view on religious texts, which is out of any context that would align with modern British laws and values
We must come together as one community against extremism and stop this literature from being distributed unchecked, ensuring that the scripture cannot be taken out of context by vulnerable young people.
Removing it at source is one step towards stopping horrendous attacks like the ones we have recently witnessed in our capital London and my home town of Manchester.
