Stop the Anderson Creek Landfill expansion proposal bordering our properties!

The Issue

As some of us are aware, Anderson Creek Landfill has announced a proposal for the future expansion of their landfill site.
As of right now, we do not know how many additional years of capacity this expansion will add or when construction will begin, but what we do know, is that their expansion property is touching neighboring properties of residents of Colonial Hills Drive. Their clearing is approximately 300ft from the property line, walking distance from residential homes.
When homeowners purchased their homes, the properties were bordered by woods and wildlife and very peaceful. In no way would have anyone purchased their home, if they would have known that their backyard would be turned into a “dump”.
We are concerned about property value loss, noise of construction equipment (long term landfill operating equipment), odor, air quality, dust or other respiratory irritants and the list goes on.
Properties that were acquired for this expansion are wetlands (non conservative). These wetlands should be preserved for the wildlife instead of ruining them.
If this expansion is an absolute must, property owners should be given the option to be bought out at fair market value including full closing costs and all associated fees or for those wishing to stay, compensated for any loss of value and health problems that can be associated with living in walking distance to a landfill for their lifetime.
