The Keystone XL Pipeline proposal is a threat to our environment and the welfare of our nation. Supporters of the pipeline say that it will provide jobs, boost the economy, and reduce our dependence on foreign oil. However, they fail to realize that the pipeline could have catastrophic environmental consequences, especially since it would pass through and possibly contaminate the Ogallala aquifer. It would leave behind toxic pods that would seep into the ground water. It will also destroy surrounding animal's habitats. Obama has continually rejected the proposed plan, but the Republican party has continued to support the pipeline.
