Make Lead Great Again

The Issue

Introduction
The feds banned a perfectly good product and fired hard working Americans based on little more than a whim and the silly notion that they know better than the American consumer.

That banned great American product is lead, once commonplace in our fuels, paints and more. The nanny state, special interest politics, and environmental extremists have controlled lead for far too long with little more than the illusion of a public health crisis.

The Still Raging Scientific Debate
There is no overwhelming science that lead in consumer products is harmful. In fact the federal government recognised this fact until the environmental extremists took over.

  • The U.S. Bureau of Mines conducted tests of the safety of lead. Various animals were exposed to leaded gasoline exhaust from a small engine, and the results stated that the animals were “without harm of any kind.”
  • The Surgeon General’s committee found no firm evidence of a threat to the public from lead.
  • US Federal Trade Commission stated that leaded gas was “entirely safe to the health of motorists and the public.”

If leaded gas were unsafe why would it be sold in Algeria, Yemen, and Iraq - and aviation fuel in America?

This issue of federal anti lead bias will be easily solved once the federal gravy train stops delivering so much money to the alarmist side.

Consumer Choice
Repealing the lead ban would reverse what has been a long regulatory attack on the American consumer. Producers and consumers do not need government mandates. If individuals believe lead is harmful they can buy lead free items without government interference. While those who recognize the benefits of lead can enjoy the freedom to purchase the products they desire.

Jobs
Lead once provided tens of thousands of good paying jobs to hard working Americans in the heartland. By removing burdensome regulation jobs may flourish again.

Plan of Action
To restore consumer choice and jobs, the Congress and President Trump must repeal all anti-lead laws along with cease funding biased anti-lead research.
