Sex offenders are placed on a register so that in future if anyone is the victim of a sexually motivated crime then the Police know who to speak to. People who abuse animals should suffer a similar fate, if anyone is found guilty in a court of law of the evil crime of animal abuse they should be instantly placed upon the register. Secondly, they should never be allowed to own an animal ever again and anyone they know who owns animals should be informed of their attitude to animal welfare and of the details of their crimes. Thirdly anyone found guilty of animal abuse should face a lengthy prison sentence which has mandatory tariffs which are not eligible for negotiation. As a civillised society we should never tolerate cruelty towards the defenceless and as is well known amongst psychologists and criminologists, one of the common denominators amongst serial killers is that they all abused animals before they went on to murder people. Stamp it out at the root and society is instantly improved.
