PLEASE REPLACE YOUR CURRENT RANGE OF VEGETARIAN LINDA MCCARTNEY PRODUCTS WITH COMPLETELY VEGAN ALTERNATIVES. THIS IS POSSIBLE AND THE TIME HAS COME. 

The UK (and worldwide) vegan community is huge and growing every day. In the UK alone, the vegan community has risen by 360% in the last 10 years (Ipsos Mori). Whilst consumers are pleased that you have some items in your vegan range, it is very disappointing to see so many products still containing animal products (dairy, eggs and honey) that are produced by the exploitation of animals. Please can we see a swift replacement of your vegetarian products with completely vegan versions.

Linda McCartney formed her vegetarian company in 1991 - but with the focus only on animals slaughtered for meat. Whilst it is true that Linda McCartney herself was a vegetarian and not a vegan, awareness about the unacceptable use of animals for dairy and egg production has grown in the last 26 years, where animals suffer an equal if not worse fate than those raised for meat - regardless of whatever welfare requirements.  

We call upon the company to now become true market leaders and move with the times - by respecting all animals equally on a moral basis, and going vegan. This will begin a bold and desperately needed move towards eliminating the suffering and death of the vast numbers of animals exploited by the food industries - in this instance the hens and their chicks for their eggs, and the cows and their calves for their milk. All chickens and cows have their reproductive processes continually and repeatedly exploited, and all are slaughtered when they are no longer economically productive. All these animals are sentient beings.

Vegans want to shop with confidence and support 100% vegan brands. The decision to remove animal ingredients from all of the products is economically viable as it increases the target market and entire product range to include vegans. Most crucially, the decision eliminates animal use in the Linda McCartney production process. Currently 10 products in the range contain animal ingredients.

Linda McCartney Foods now have an opportunity to become market leaders by taking a consistent ethical stance for all animals. Please can Linda McCartney Foods consistently reject all animal use.
