Strangles - DEDJTR (previously DEPI) you need to assist horse owners and take action now

The issue

All Victorian horse owners need to know that Strangles IS rampant in Victoria.
DEDJTR (previously DEPI) are not doing enough and its time something was done.

Even if you vaccinate your horses, you are still at risk of your horse contracting this horrible sickness.

I do not want to see anymore people going through what I did.
I do not care who's fault it is for starting it, I care that we can do something to stop it.  This will shut down pony clubs and major horses events if something is not done now.

There is current confirmed cases Winchelsea, Colac, Geelong, Ballarat and Melbourne areas.  Along with known cases in Echuca, Shepparton and Bendigo.

DEDJTR are saying they have only 30 confirmed cases in Victoria for the last 12months.  This figure can not be correct.

Until everyone is made aware of just how bad this disease is and until we all start doing something to help stop the spread of it, IT WILL NOT GO AWAY.
If you do not follow proper quarantine and bio security measures you are at risk.

There needs to be more information available to the public about areas affected and those areas that have confirmed cases.  There also needs to be information on how to deal with Strangles if you are affected.

DEDJTR should be informing all horse owners of this current situation and they should be putting appropriate plans into action to help stop any further spread of this horrible virus.  DEDJTR should be more pro-active with those confirming they have cases on their property and offer more support.

I need more people in the horse industry to help me make something happen.  The more people that report and complain about this the better.

The link attached is my experience.  Have a look and see if you want your horses to go through this.  The horses pictured were all at my place when I was affected.   Thats only half of them.
