As we suspected, the State's Attorney's office has decided to continue prosecuting (or rather persecuting) Mr. Patterson. A status hearing has been scheduled for February 11, 2015, a pre-trial hearing has been scheduled for February 20, 2015, and the trial will begin on February 23, 2015. The good news is that between now and these dates, one of the rescued eaglets should be released back into the wild; a feat that State's Attorney Brian Towne said would never happen. His exact words were that Mr. Patterson has sentenced these eaglets "to a life in prison". We certainly can't wait to see him proved wrong! We will keep everyone posted on the release of the first eaglet, which is potentially scheduled for November/December. In the meantime, we ask you to continue sharing this petition...and that you sign the latest petition that seeks to have Illinois lawmakers institute a Good Samaritan law for the state of Illinois. https://www.change.org/p/illinois-state-house-enact-an-illinois-good-samaritan-law-for-wildlife We will also be working on an event after the New Year that would help raise funds for Mr. Patterson's second defense trial (details to come in January). I know Mr. Patterson and his family are overwhelmed by the outpouring of support, and he thanks you from the bottom of his heart. Sincerely, Andie Groff
