Cats are animals too: Give cats the same road protecton as Dogs and Pigs!

Currently, if somebody runs over a dog, they have to alert the owner or a nearby vet by law. However, this does not apply to Cats. 230,000 cats are run over every year. That's 230,000 families devastated and more importantly, 230,000 Cat's lives ended years early. This problem costs vets approximatly £11.5 million every year! Currently, the government do not consider Cats as animals in terms of road safety. In the Road Traffic Act 1998, the term 'animal' means horse, cattle, ass, mule, sheep, pig, goat or dog but not cat. I live near a main road and I cannot have any more Cats because it is too dangerous. I have lost too many cats to that road. It needs to change. All that needs to be done to save lives is add the word 'cat' to the Road Traffic Act 1998 Section 170. If you have lost Cats to roads, own Cats that you want to save, or simply think no animal should die, sign this petition. Share using #catsareanimals2. Together we can save lives!
