When animal cruelty laws list animals as possessions, it becomes nearly impossible to take them from their abusive homes/situations and get them the help that they need!
We need justice for Cloe - the cat who had to be humanely euthanized due to her terrible health condition. Her owners did not get her veterinary care for over a year, and ultimately lead to her death, in which she did suffer. Now they're trying to get Harley and Nutmeg back, who we cannot keep safe because of the current animal cruelty laws in Vermont!
In Chapter 8 of Vermont Cruelty to Animals Statutes - it clearly states that "(4) deprives an animal which a person owns, possesses or acts as an agent for, of adequate food, water, shelter, rest or sanitation, or necessary medical attention, or transports an animal in overcrowded vehicles;" is indeed animal cruelty. Cloe did not receive medical attention for over a year, and these owners cannot provide proper medical care for these animals. We have photo evidence of them telling us not to take Cloe to the vet because they did not have enough money to care for her!
Help us get justice for Cloe, and keep cats in situations like Nutmeg and Harley safe! Sign today and tell Vermont Senators and Legislation that they need to seriously review Vermont Animal Cruelty Laws and keep animals safe!
