Kathleen Habeeb Murdered At 19, Killer Wants His "Freedom"

Kathleen Habeeb Murdered At 19, Killer Wants His "Freedom"

The Issue

Long time members of our group, the Habeebs, loving family of Kathleen Habeeb, is requesting our help in keeping her murderer behind bars where he belongs.

Vincent Day (DIN# 84-B-1259) without hesitation, brutally robbed and murdered, our sister, Kathleen on November 3, 1983, Jamaica, Queens, NY. He took her cross necklace and Communion ring, to later sell at a pawn shop for money, to purchase beer and chips.

His criminal past also includes (but is not limited to) assaults and battery, robberies, by the age of 19 AND was out on bail at the time of murdering our sister. His conviction was MURDER 2nd degree, criminal possession of stolen property & criminal possession of a weapon.   He has never expressed remorse for the brutal murder of Kathy, age 19, St. John’s University student & member of the SJU Women’s Soccer team.

My family remains in fear of retaliation should Vincent Day be released on parole. Vincent Day, once stated, “it’s the family’s fault that I have a lengthy sentence.” Vincent Day, convicted of 2nd degree murder, continues to pose a tremendous risk to society/public safety and our family.

Every 2 years, since 2003, when Vincent Day served his minimum sentence of 20 years, my sister and I have been fighting his parole release. On May 10, 2019, we will, for the 9th time, continue to OPPOSE Vincent Day’s release from prison.

We are asking family, friends & community for your continued support, as we continue this fight.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR CONTINUED SUPPORT!

CarolAnn & Maureen Habeeb

We, the undersigned, find the idea of Vincent Day's release at this time to be incompatible with the welfare of society and would so deprecate the serious nature of the crime as to undermine respect for the law.

RE:  Vincent Day- DIN # 84B1259 Parole Hearing Date:  June 2019

PAROLE OPPOSITION LETTER

Dear Chairman and Parole Board Member,

Please DO NOT grant parole to convicted murderer, Vincent Day.

On November 3, 1983, Kathleen Habeeb, a 19 year old St. John’s University student was murdered by Vincent Day. She had a promising life ahead of her that was taken away violently.

Vincent Day was out on bail when he robbed and murdered Kathleen. He is a repeat offender, who had an extensive criminal history by the age of 19.

On May 10, 2019, Kathleen Habeeb’s family will have to relive the horrendous events that led to her brutal and senseless murder.  Their lives have never been the same and now they are having to face the uncertainty of another parole hearing.  Kathleen’s sisters live in constant fear of a possible release, as they have been proactive in keeping Day behind bars where he belongs. Vincent Day is not capable of remaining free of criminal behavior.  There is every reason to believe he will re-offend and, once again, pose a significant threat to the life of another human being.  Because of his complete disregard for human life, lack of conscience/remorse and past criminal history, justice demands that this convicted murderer be denied parole.  Vincent Day made a personal choice to murder an innocent woman and must continue to accept the consequences of his actions.

Please deny parole to convicted murderer, Vincent Day and continue to serve the maximum time of his sentence; LIFE IN PRISION.

Thank you for your consideration.
