Pastor/Producer Urges New Legislation Protection for Online Shoppers @ Amazon.com

The Issue

Amazon sold an Apple Computer to local pastor and music producer Tyrone Holmes online that contained US intelligence spyware. This caused a breach of national security and set off alarms by a Department of Defense contractor who convinced NYPD law enforcement officials to unlawfully violate the civil rights and privacy of Mr. Holmes by threatening, harassing, and treating him as a criminal threatening to lock him up in jail for unknowingly purchasing a computer with DOD tracking spyware to be shipped to Dubai. Mr. Holmes purchased the computer with his Chase credit card online via Amazon.com who shipped the new Apple Computer with AppleCare (wrapped in its original packaging and sealed) to him after the purchase, at full price, further detailed in a lawsuit filed by Mr. Holmes in The United States District Court for the Southern District of New York, Index No. CV-17-4557.

Amazon, Apple, Checkpoint, and FedEx are all negligent in the handling of this very sensitive government spyware and property for national security that mistakenly ended up in the hands of a consumer. To make matters worse the Department of Defense contractor then began to spy on the pastor and music producer inside the United States for months without a warrant, permission, or a FISA court hearing, further violating the pastor’s civil rights. The firm also tracked and surveilled all of his movements, contacts, travels, personal and business communications, and stole all of his music and film data.

Mr. Holmes filed a lawsuit for reimbursement, civil rights violations, and drastic damages and insist that updated laws are needed to protect American consumers from such negligence, fraud, misuse of power, corporate irresponsibility, and other such harmful acts which should now be looked at and drafted into new legislation by the US Congress as a law.
