Hi Everyone, I wanted to share something very personal with you today. Many of you know I’ve been pouring my heart into advocating for Tiny’s Bill, but this piece of writing goes even deeper into my own story. I was born during the South Bend flood of 1981. My mom almost named me Stormy—but when the clouds broke and the sun came out, she changed her mind. From that moment on, I’ve lived with storms and sun side by side. Over the years, I’ve faced many storms: losing my mom and dad, battling serious health challenges, and carrying grief that sometimes felt endless. But every time, the sun has returned—and so have I. I wrote this poem, Born of the Storm, Claimed by the Sun, to share what resilience and survival mean to me. It’s not just my story—it’s for anyone who has ever felt like the storm might win, but still found a way back to the light. “The sun is stubborn. It always returns. And so do I.” Thank you all for standing with me, for signing, sharing, and believing in this cause. Your support helps me keep rising, even on the hardest days. With gratitude, Jocelin Witt
