Support the Veterans Paid Holiday Recognition Act of 2027

Three Paid Holidays. One Nation. A Lifetime of Service.

My name is Christopher Lee Villa. I am a United States Army veteran from East Texas.

I served in the United States Army. Like millions of veterans, I returned to civilian life and continued working, supporting my family, and contributing to my community.

I believe our country should guarantee eligible veterans three paid holidays each year:

- Memorial Day — To honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

- Independence Day — To celebrate the freedoms our military has defended.

- Veterans Day — To recognize those who answered the call to serve.

This proposed legislation would cover veterans with honorable discharges and general discharges under honorable conditions, regardless of rank, length of service, deployment history, or disability rating.

Both full-time and part-time veteran employees would qualify. Holiday pay would reflect normally scheduled hours, with reasonable calculations for variable schedules.

These holidays would not reduce earned vacation or PTO. Veterans required to work during essential operations would receive equivalent substitute paid leave.

Employers would be prohibited from retaliating against veterans who exercise these rights.

We recognize our veterans with ceremonies, speeches, and public appreciation. Let's also recognize them through meaningful workplace protections.

We are calling on the United States Congress to introduce and pass legislation establishing these three guaranteed paid holidays for eligible veterans employed in the private sector.

This is not about asking for special treatment. It is about recognizing service through a lasting national commitment.

Stand with our veterans. Sign this petition and help bring this proposal before Congress.
