Pass the Oklahoma Judicial Accountability Act – Hold Judges Responsible for Misconduct

The Issue

Oklahoma deserves a justice system we can trust. Right now, it doesn’t have one.

Under current Oklahoma law, judges have absolute immunity — meaning they cannot be held liable even when they knowingly ignore evidence, intentionally rule against established facts, violate constitutional rights, or take actions that cause devastating harm to families.

No other profession in this state has this level of untouchable power.

Doctors can be sued.
Police can be sued.
Teachers, social workers, and government officials can be sued.

But judges — the people with the most power over our lives — are shielded from accountability, even in cases of deliberate misconduct.

This must change.

 THE OKLAHOMA JUDICIAL ACCOUNTABILITY ACT
This citizen-led reform creates a narrow, reasonable, and necessary exception to judicial immunity.

Under the bill, judges would STILL be protected for:

  • Routine decisions
  • Good-faith mistakes
  • Legal disagreements

But they would lose immunity for:

  • intentional misconduct
  • knowingly ignoring facts in the record
  • knowingly violating controlling law
  • malicious or bad-faith rulings
  • actions that cause clear, preventable harm

This is not anti-judge.
This is pro-fairness, pro-family, and pro-justice.

 WHY THIS MATTERS

Every year, Oklahoma families are torn apart, rights are ignored, and lives are damaged because there is no remedy when a judge intentionally abuses their power.

Parents.
Children.
Veterans.
Grandparents.
Falsely accused individuals.
Victims of domestic violence.

Many have suffered when judges acted outside the law — and no accountability was possible.

This bill protects the people of Oklahoma from intentional judicial wrongdoing, while preserving judicial independence for all honest judges.

WE CALL ON THE OKLAHOMA LEGISLATURE TO:

  1. Sponsor and introduce the Oklahoma Judicial Accountability Act
  2. Hold public hearings to allow citizens to share their stories
  3. Acknowledge the need for accountability and transparency
  4. Pass this reform during the upcoming legislative session

Oklahoma deserves a justice system that works for the people, not one that protects wrongdoing behind a shield of immunity.

 SIGN THIS PETITION

If you believe:

  • No judge should be above the law
  • Families deserve fairness
  • Intentional misconduct must have consequences
  • Judicial power should come with responsibility
  • Oklahoma must restore trust in its courts

Add your name. Share widely. Be part of the movement to fix our justice system.

Together, we can make Oklahoma a national leader in true judicial accountability.
